O‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍bjective In this written report, you will analyze the management practices of an organization.

Choose one element of management (e.g., organizational culture, social responsibility, strategic management, organizational structure, innovation management, motivation, etc.) and analyze, using the frameworks and theories discussed in the course, how the organization’s practices drive superior (or inferior) performance. Finally, prepare a recommendation for the organization’s leaders based on your research. You may choose to analyze any organization, but

conduct some initial research to make sure enough information is available to develop a thorough report. When selecting a company, you may find it helpful to consult FORTUNE’s World’s Most Admired Companies. Research Methods Your report should reference at least three (3)

information sources, not including the textbook and other course materials. A variety of resources are available to gather information about the organization: business publications such as the Wall Street Journal, academic journals, company annual reports, etc. You may even choose to interview employees (preferably managers) of the organization. Incorporate both the library databases and online (., Google) searches in your

research since they utilize different sources of information: Library databases To access the library databases, click the “Library Resources” link in the course navigation menu (left side of your screen). The Wall Street Journal database, in particular, is a valuable source of information for your analysis! Watch the video, General Business Research, for brief overview of how to search the library databases effectively. If you need any assistance with library resources, please contact Rachel Zyirek (you’ll see her contact information once you clic‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍k on the “Library Resources” link). Online searches You may also conduct research online, but evaluate the credibility of your sources before referencing them in your report. Also, if you find a good article that’s behind a paywall, check to see if it’s available in the library databases. Format Your written report should be 3–4 pages in length (not including the appendices and references) using 12-point font, double-spacing, and one-inch margins. Use headings to identify each major section of the report. Your report should include the following components: Introduction Introduce your topic, but assume that your audience is familiar with the company and its background. Your introduction should end with your thesis statement. Body Analyze the organization’s management practices (see Objective above), providing evidence based on your research. Incorporate headings/subheadings that relate to the topic of your report (., heading = “Innovation Management;” subheadings = “Structural Variables” and “Cultural Variables”)

Conclusions and recommendations Summarize your research findings, and develop at least one (1) recommendation for the organization’s leaders related to the management topic you researched. Your recommendation should not be to continue “business as usual”—it must be a novel idea. Appendices (optional) Attach any materials that are helpful in explaining the company’s management practices. The appendices must be referenced in the body of your report. References Cite a minimum of three (3) sources using APA style (your report does not have to be in APA format—only your in-text citations and references do). This model report is an excellent example of the type of analysis for which you should be striving. However, the length of your re‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍port should be 3–4 pages.
