RESEARCH PAPER: ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
An annotated bibliography is a tool often used by researchers to record their findings of
important scholarly work related to their own research question. It is a listing of written work
with each entry followed by a brief paragraph summarizing the content and purpose of the work,
discussing its relevance to the topic, highlighting unique aspects of the work and describing the
works strengths, weaknesses and biases. Summaries may also include quotations or data from the
work, properly cited, in the researcher’s own writing. You will develop your own annotated
bibliography to jumpstart your research into the trait you selected in your Research Paper:
Topic Brief Assignment for your Research Paper: Final Assignment. You will use the
sources/information you record in your annotated bibliography as you develop your paper.
INSTRUCTIONS
 Length of assignment: Eight (8) references with annotations of one paragraph or more
each, plus a title page. Include the three (3) references from your Topic Brief in the
count. 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced, and 1” margins.
 Format of assignment: Current APA
 Number of citations: Eight (8)
 Acceptable sources: Textbooks, links to assigned reading and study materials, published
journal articles, and website articles.
