Summative Assessment Component 1: COURSEWORK (100% weighting) You will submit two case studies in two written assignments of 2500 words (+/- 10%) each (100% weighting). Each case study will be based on a recorded session from your clinical practice demonstrating at least 2 evidence-based interventions per recording. These will be recordings from two separate clients. The case studies will demonstrate the

student’s ability to critically analyse the evidence base for the context of their therapeutic practice. It will also demonstrate the student’s ability to critically analyse the therapeutic alliance taking account of the implications of socio-cultural and diversity factors that may influence the

therapeutic relationship. Each case study should contain a Trans-theoretical Model; case formulation; BASIC ID and Risk Assessment in the appendix. Case study guidance The following section outlines suggested headings and the content that should be covered for each heading. This will help you present your case study in a logical manner, and will also help you to ensure you address the learning outcomes. Please make sure that you reference your work using the Harvard referencing system. Please also make sure that the case studies meet the learning

outcomes found at the start of the module handbook. Below is a list of suggested headings for the case study along with additional suggestions of what to include: Presenting issues Outline the main issues Risk Assessment and Contract Discuss medication and any impact on the client Discuss risk assessment, assessment and contract Complicating factors Discuss legal and ethical factors including reference to the BACP ethical guidelines Client’s starting point Discuss the client’s presenting issues in terms of the TTM Make sure to reference academic sources relating to the presenting issues Discuss the client’s presenting issues in terms of the BASIC ID and the Padesky case formulation Client’s background Age Gender Family history Health Overall history bringing out the salient points Career and any significant issues Context of counselling Outline where the client was seen The number, frequency and length of sessions Explain how the client was referred What are the reasons behind the client attending therapy?
